i love the pics of the lineshafts and the old riveted girders. not many lineshafts remain in old buildings these days as they were scraped in the many periods of high prices over the years due to there weight.
 
this may sound a dumb question but as the name sudjests, is this mill located in sleaford?
if so its not a million miles from me and should be worth a trip out one day. i love all kinds of industrial workings found in places like this .

some big decisions re the redevelopment of that site are due at a planning meeting on Tuesday, Tesco want a new store thye other side of the tracks and a road has got to go through the maltings site.

Bloody typical. If any planning gets the go ahead for even part demoltion it will be tragic. Let's hope the locals put up a fight.
 
can somebody please send PM me or post up a flash earth image for this place or even a postcode for the sat nav as i think we should get a group of us together to go and visit this place one day very soon as going through all the picks and what you guys have on your website it looks truly amazing place

Thanks for your comments Wayne, it is an amazing place. Not sure it lends itself to a large group but imo and with not going into details, the fewer people the better.
 
Good informative report and great pictures, this is my kinda place:)I have passed this on the train many times and wondered.Must take a look pretty soon,they dont build things like that anymore,mores the pity.
 
Tesco got the go ahead yesterday, so go and look soon because you can bet security will be there soon once they start on the road and infrastructure stuff to support tesco's new build
