This is my visit to Breedon On The Hill church . I visited here in August 2024 . Sorry if the camera quality isn't perfect for this one my camera decided to play up on this day i think it might have been due to storage or an internal issue i was not aware of on the day nevertheless onto the history of the church :) ....
Breedon priory was founded as an Augustinian house in around 1120, on the site of the Iron Age hillfort, like the earlier Anglo-Saxon minster. The priory was a cell of Nostell Priory in Yorkshire and there seems to have been between three and five canons in residence at any one time, usually from Nostell.
It was from this building that the remarkable array of Anglo-saxon carved stonework was salvaged, which can be seen in the Church today. But in A.D. 874, the community was attacked by pagan Danish and Norse invaders and buildings looted and despoiled. (PLEASE NOTE!!!!!) (all of this information is from online sources such as google and websites all the rights go towards them) and finally the moment you have been anticipating onto the photos . cheers ... laww :)
