Bit of a fail really as we didn't get in, but glad i got a few photos of some exteriors. Visited with mattdonut. The Leicester Borough Lunatic Asylum was opened in 1869. The name "Towers Hospital" was acquired in 1947. Some parts of the site are still used by the NHS.
The main asylum block, to the left you can just see the tower at the main entrance. It is very impressive from the front, but no pics as the trees block out the view!
