Just come across Derelict Places. Very interesting. Re: Reighton - I have been going there man and boy for well over 60 years. I have a bungalow on the cliff top overlooking the site that is intriguing the posters.
I can advise that the railway lines are simply concrete reinforcement for the slipway down to the beech from the old gravel extraction plant that have only becom apparent since the road crumbled.
The sand and gravel was loaded by mobile tracked crane and loaded into small front tipping dumper trucks. These took the material to the washing plant part way up the cliff. The sand was washed out and dumped back into the sea. The gravel was taken away by Toulsons of Doncaster. As a young lad We used to get rides up from the beech on the dumpers. Magic for young lads. 'Elf and Safety would be apoplectic these days. Miserable sods.
If you Google The Francis Frith Collection site there are half a dozen photos of the Reighton holiday site before the bungalows were demolished and one taken from just above the plant looking towards Speeton. This shows the cafe in the foreground, buildings to the left and the plant is just out of view. The pillbox is at a precarious angle on the edge of the cliff edge above the slipway leading down to the beech.
